Kelsey juliana & cesar chavez
Who is this activist?
Kelsey Juliana was born on (I think) about june 16, 1996 that is from Eugene, Oregon. Her parents brought her into saving the environment from global warming. She was only two months old when she had her first rally. Her parents believe in saving the environment.
What is Kelsey Juliana fighting for?
She is fighting against global warming. She thinks we should do something about it. When she was in middle school the other students would call her eco-girl because she would run around the school turning off lights and digging through waste bins, looking for stuff that could be recycled. She walked across america in the protest. She and another girl, Olivia even filed a lawsuit against the oregon governor.
What makes Kelsey special?
She was really young when she started thinking about global warming. She went to court while all the other “normal” teens are at the mall and on their phones. If it wasn’t for her parents she might not be making a change in the world. She did lots of small things that piled up big like just turning off the unnecessary lights at school and looking for reusable things in the garbage cans.

Cesar Chavez was born on March 31, 1927 near Yuma, Arizona. His family had lost their home in the great depression so they moved to North California and became migrated farm workers. Cesar Chavez died on April 23, 1993 in San Luis, Arizona in his sleep. They think the cause of his death was starving because he had boycotts where they wouldn’t eat but they don’t know. He had a family of eight children and 31 grandchildren that were supportive.

He is fighting for the improvement of the treatment, pay, and working conditions for farm workers. He had many boycotts. The boycotts would cause people to not buy what the California industry had to offer. He had a union called “The United Farm Workers Of America” they held protests and marches.

He dropped out of school to support his family in the eighth grade. Then he joined the navy. That gave him an opportunity to see the world. He started a movement and is the reason of many things we have today like benefits, protections, and being able to unionize.
